San Rafael club maintains park named for crash victim
On Sept. 11 members of the San Rafael Rotary Club gathered with San Rafael Fire Department members and first responders at Lauren Place in downtown San Rafael to mark 25 years since the terrorist attacks that killed 2,977 people.
Lauren Place is named for Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas of San Rafael, one of the passengers on board United Airlines Flight 93.
Rotary Club of San Rafael has managed the renovation and continued maintenance of Lauren Place over the last two years and also coordinated the creation of a mural representing historical Fourth Street on the San Rafael Joe’s west wall.
Youth in Arts, under the guidance of professional artist Karina Ramirez Cortez, the cultural arts coordinator at Multicultural Center of Marin, is creating the mural.
